Haskins Garden Centre in Ferndown donates daffodil bulbs to Marie Curie for Field of Hope

Staff working at Haskins Garden Centre in Ferndown presented £100 worth of trumpet daffodil bulbs to Marie Curie Poole Fundraising Group on Wednesday September 6.

Haskins donated the daffodil bulbs in support of the charity’s ‘Field of Hope’ remembrance area. The bulbs will be planted by the charity on Saturday October 14 in Baiter Park from 10am.

The ‘Field of Hope’ site was established by Marie Curie in 2016 and can be found in Poole’s Baiter Park.

Having experienced its first flowering of daffodils in March, the council has now granted permission to expand the remembrance area. The site aims to give people somewhere to rest while they remember the care their loved ones received at the end of life.

Simon Hallam, centre manager at Haskins Garden Centre in Ferndown, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to support the charity by providing them with these daffodil bulbs. Hopefully the daffodils will bloom in the spring, heralding the new season.”Haskins Garden Centre

Marie Curie is a charity that provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Richard Ayres, member of the Poole Marie Curie fundraising group, said: “We’re so grateful to Haskins for their generous bulb donation for the remembrance area. They have helped us bring some comfort to those who have lost loved ones.”
