TV and BBC Radio 4 gardening expert's pruning masterclass at Bradford Garden Centre

A Bradford Garden Centre has announced the second masterclass with TV and radio gardening expert and award winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show designer, Matthew Wilson.

Tong Garden Centre is the first centre in the North of England to host BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time regular panellist Matthew Wilson's Gardening School and will host a pruning masterclass between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Tuesday, 15th May.

Wilson, the former curator of RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate and respectedRHS writer, broadcaster and lecturer, will mix practical with theory in the half day course that aims to unravel the mysteries of the pruning process and give pruning techniques for flower production, disease reduction and growth promotion.

Of the masterclass, Wilson said:

"Pruning can strike fear into even the most experienced gardener. What to prune, when and where can seem utterly baffling at times. During the session, we will look at how to prune roses to maintain health and maximise flowering; clematis pruning; getting the most out of your hedges, dead heading and creative pruning forms including topiary and cloud shaping."

Tickets for the pruning RHS masterclass, which runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm on 15th May, cost £55 per person and are available to book online at www.tonggardencentre.co.uk.
Tong Garden Centre occupies a 14 acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire's biggest garden centres with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 700 cars.
