A new twist on the traditional wheelbarrow, Baksaver Barrow, won two awards – the Best Machinery and Tools Product and the New Product Innovation Award – at the Glee garden show in Birmingham.
The Innovation Award was added to the award programme for 2015. Created in response to industry feedback, this new award celebrates true innovation from the 500+ exhibitors filling Glee in 2015.
The Baksaver Barrow is a new wheelbarrow designed to tip and push with ease. It's particularly useful for anyone who struggles to use a traditional wheelbarrow. More information can be found online at www.baksaver.co.uk.
James Hayes innovator and distributor of Baksaver Barrows said: “We are delighted to win two awards on the first day of launching the new barrow, this is the first time we have displayed the product to industry. Over 20,000 new products will be launched over the next few days and the award should set us apart from the crowds”.
“We’ve been trialling the product in Hayes Garden Machinery dealerships in Devon over the summer and have some fantastic feedback from our customers young and old”.
He went onto say: "Glee is a huge show for us and so far we’ve had a fantastic response from many garden retailers and distributors both in the UK and Europe. Our intention for the product is to wholesale the product rather than to retail it ourselves."
More than 300 new products entered the Glee New Product Awards, organised by i2i events. Matthew Mein, Glee event manager confirmed: “We were delighted that so many superb, new products were entered for this year’s Glee New Products, and offer many congratulations to the worthy winners. Our thanks also go to the judges who so kindly lent their valuable time and expertise.”
The Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts, who judge the showcased products for their innovation, design, promotion and saleability. The judges were hugely impressed by The Baksaver Barrow. The judges included Brian Archibald (Coolings), Tony Kersey (Homebase), Marcus Cousins (Aylett Nurseries), Kevin Waters (The Garden Works), Conna Powles (Haskins), Michelle de Lavis-Trafford (Choice), Gábor Knorr (British Garden), Yvonne Ritchie (Brechin Castle), Trevor Pfeiffer (Garden Trade News), Susan Fairley, Matthew Mein and Saul Leese (i2i Events).
