BASF to showcase biological slug control solution at RHS Cardiff
BASF, the leading producer of beneficial nematodes used as pest control in British gardens, will be showcasing two of its ground-breaking products at this year’s RHS Cardiff.
The company is attending the event, held from 12 to 14 April, as it represents the start of the spring season and is also a key time of year in which gardeners spot the first signs of slug activity.
Gavin Wood, business development and key account manager for nematodes, said: “We attend RHS Cardiff every year to gauge how bad gardeners’ slug problems are. The combination of mild autumn and wet weather last year will inevitably increase underground slug activity.”
BASF recommends the best time to target slugs is when they are newly hatched, meaning the period between March to October is ideal. A regular regime of using Nemaslug every six weeks throughout this period is the most effective way to keep the pests controlled throughout the growing season, keeping plants and vegetables safe.
At the event, BASF will also be discussing with visitors its Nemasys range, including its Vine Weevil pest control.
Mr Wood added: “Our Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer is an organic and effective way to deal with a vine weevil infestation. Nemasys targets the larvae while they are still in the soil and kills them before they have a chance to cause damage. We want to talk to visitors about this as although they may not see any signs of the pest yet, it is something that gardeners need to plan for.”
Visitors looking to find out more information about Nemaslug and Nemasys can find BASF at stand A123. The company will also be attending the following RHS shows later this year, Malvern, Chatsworth, Tatton and Hampton Court, as well as BBC Gardeners World Live.
