To celebrate one of the UK’s favourite flowers, Haskins Garden Centre group has introduced a new ‘share your rose’ photo competition on its social media pages.
The garden centre group is encouraging gardeners to take a photo of the prettiest rose in their garden and share it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #HaskinsRose18 or email the photo to yourphotos@haskins.co.uk.
The competition, which is now open, closes on Saturday June 30. The winning participant will be presented with Haskins’ exclusive Rose of the Year, Amelia. This year’s rose is a scented floribunda with apricot coloured semi-double flowers. The rose produces sprays of flowers from June to September, growing up to heights of 1.5m. The variety is fully hardy and can handle full sun and partial shade. This particular rose grows on average 25 petals each.
Lisa Looker, brand director at Haskins Garden Centres, said: “We’re very excited to see what our customers have grown in their garden and hope this competition will help inspire them to proudly share photos of their green-fingered achievements. To enter the competition, simply take a photo of your rose and share it on social media or email it to us.
“The rose is such a versatile flower and means so many different things to people. Suiting any type of garden, the rose is grown in a vast amount of colours and varieties.”
Haskins’ Rose Festival has returned for another year and runs now until Thursday July 26. There are 200 types of roses on sale, including the new range of roses from Peter Beales Roses and David Austin Roses.
Haskins has centres in Ferndown in Dorset, West End in Southampton and Roundstone and Snowhill in West Sussex. For more information visit www.haskins.co.uk
