Barnsley based Yorkshire Flowerpots is the UK’s only volume producer of ceramic flowerpots. It is part of the 4th generation Naylor group, a family business which has been making ceramic products since 1890.
Since its launch in 1992, Yorkshire Flowerpots has established a reputation for high quality, British made terracotta pots: the company's pots are accompanied by a lifetime frostproof guarantee.
During 2018, the company has strengthened its manufacturing expertise and made a £150,000 investment in its clay processing plant to increase capacity and further improve product quality.
Yorkshire Flowerpots General Manager Liz Hudston explained: "Last year we manufactured over 250,000 pots and the increasing volumes together with the tough milling processes needed to process Yorkshire clays and shales have led to this investment in manufacturing infrastructure".
Yorkshire Flowerpots has adopted a firing process known as vitrification used to produce drainage pipes that will withstand the rigours of all types of climates. This high temperature firing process is also ideal for gardenware. The planters are fired to temperatures in excess of 1050 degrees centigrade for up to five days to produce a blue core with incredible strength within the pot – thereby rendering it frostproof. Yorkshire Flowerpots are:
- Made from robust Yorkshire natural red clay
- Fired to temperatures in excess of 1050 degrees centigrade
- Manufactured with a high strength blue core
- Independently freeze/thaw tested to minus 15 degrees centigrade
