Vegepod to celebrate sustainability at GLEE 2019
Vegepod, the Australian manufacturer of innovative raised garden beds, will be showcasing its range at GLEE 2019.
At the show the company, which launched in the UK in spring 2018, will be focussing on sustainability. In the midst of the “war on plastics”, Vegepod will be highlighting that its polypropylene beds are indeed eco-friendly, particularly when compared to timber or iron raised alternatives. With a minimum 10+ year lifespan they outlive untreated timber counterparts five fold without the need for harvesting and deforestation. Additionally, the Vegepod eco-covers manage the climate of plants by allowing water and air to penetrate but not insects, encouraging plant growth. Furthermore, the self-watering functionality reduces water usage by 80% and furthers the products’ sustainable credentials.
A further focus for Vegepod at the show will be reiterating its commitment to the UK not just by seeking newa routes to market but also by becoming a member of the Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association (GIMA), something which the company will be celebrating at the show.
Neil Urry, head of UK sales and operations for Vegepod, commented: “We exhibited at GLEE last year but were incredibly new to the UK market and weren’t in a position to fully utilise the opportunities the show can bring. We’ve worked really hard in the last 12 months to get the brand established and are now looking forward to going full throttle at GLEE 2019. Vegepod is already stocked by leading names such as Dobbies, Blue Diamond and Marshalls, and we’re looking forward to meeting many more buyers from the industry to expand our retail portfolio.”
GLEE 2018 saw the company being a finalist in the show’s New Product Awards in the “Best Garden Care – Growing Accessories” category, this year it has been nominated for an award again in the Great British Growing Awards. The winners will be announced at the show.
