“The secret to Rosebourne’s growing success is keeping things fresh”

Rosebourne in Hampshire is a relatively new retail outlet which seamlessly combines a restaurant, food hall and garden nursery.

Rosebourne opened its doors in October 2016 with around 80 staff, with the aim of showcasing quality, fresh and locally sourced produce in its restaurant and food hall, alongside a wide range of plants, homewares and gifts.

Since a highly successful launch, the business in Weyhill, Andover has gone from strength to strength, increasing staff by 54% with a second centre planned in Aldermaston, Berkshire towards the end of this year.

The directors, Jon Kitching and Neville Prest, base RosebournRosebourne the new retail outlete’s success on knowing their customers and possessing the ability to predict their needs and adapt their offering to suit.

The food department is regularly updated, making seasonal changes with fresh produce and local suppliers are always championed wherever possible. The thriving restaurant doesn't rest on its laurels either, with the menu refreshed three times a year with regular seasonal specials.

The pair are always on the lookout for new products across all departments. They have a wealth of experience in the retail and garden retail sectors and recognise that variety and a comprehensive selection is important to their regular customers. They have created a destination, a place that people visit for a browse and bite to eat as well as for specific purchases.

Seasonal food and homewares are ordered often nearly a year in advance. For example, they make regular trips to Kaemingk in Holland as well as the Associated Independent Stores trade shows and the NEC to stock up on various supplies. The NEC Glee event is always a good spot for business and is billed as the world’s number one annual buying event for the garden and leisure sectors.

Jonathan and Neville said:

"The secret to our growing success is keeping things fresh and listening to what our customers want. We're always on the lookout for new plants, unusual gifts and are committed to the highest quality in our food department, including banishing unnecessary packaging. We're delighted to be opening our second garden centre this year and we're delighted that our customers enjoy what we do."
